And now it's today. Opening day at Camp Mommy.
I really do feel like I want to share our packed-with-fun daily schedule but I'm just so tired. So tired. So in far fewer words than would be expected but many pictures, here was day one.
The 'Special Activity' of the day was baking, so I guess that makes today Baking Monday and we'll do it again next week. Man, I am so ahead of the game, next Monday morning is already penciled in.
We divided up into two boy/girl teams. Each team got a recipe and a lot of hand-holding. They read the directions, they learned fractions (I'm looking at you 1/2 and 3/4) and they took turns mixing and pouring. There was excitement, music, drama and dancing, and (drum roll please) there was the cracking of eggs. The kiddies have been begging to crack eggs on their own for eons now but ugh, I kept putting them off because what a mess. And I was right. Big time mess. Like, holy heck, how does one egg make it across the floor and nowhere near the bowl? Who knows? No one. Not even the egg cracker himself. But it did.
And twelve years later, we had cookies.
We taste tested.
And they were good.
Each camper was surprisingly creative and not complainy.
Here, in no particular order, are our monsters:
I found these free (free!) piano lessons. And it only took me four viewings to learn to play the song Hot Cross Buns. The kids learned too but honestly, I'm most proud of myself. I am so not musical and now I can play a whole song. We also can't stop saying Hot Cross Buns. Hot Cross Buns.
Incidentally, we also discovered that Buns, from our Hot Cross Buns (I can't stop!) song also means tushie. And the people of the land rejoiced in their new-found knowledge.
Good times.
I promise to try and come back tomorrow.
:)
