In case you were concerned that these new plates might knock the New York or even the New Jersey out of me, don't be.
Let me preface this by saying that I really did not mean to be rude. And let me also say that it was one of those days - and by those days, I mean Old-Lady-Day-on-San-Jose-Blvd. San Jose Blvd is the main drag here and is also where it took me ten minutes to drive two blocks this past Friday because every single driver on the road was female and at least, if not older than, 92 years old. And short. So it looked like no one was driving any of the cars in any of the lanes for a good five blocks. And five blocks was all I had to go from my son's speech therapy appointment (where the therapist wasn't even there... Why does no one call when an appointment is cancelled?!) to Krispie Kreme, where he gets a donut after speech. Don't ask and please don't judge. I cant explain it, and I dont like but this is the routine and I just cant be bothered to change it right now.
Krispy Kreme always leaves me conflicted. On the one hand, I hate that place because donuts are so gross and so bad for you. But I also love Krispy Kreme because they have a drive-thru. I think every store in the world should have a drive-thru. Drive-thru Target, drive-thru Costco. Just toss it all the trunk and go. I love a drive-thru. Except when the driver in front of you has no idea what she wants, is asking the faceless loudspeaker to describe the attributes of each donut and can't remember which twelve donuts she ordered to make up her dozen so that she can use her $1 coupon.
One Dollar Coupon.
I was annoyed before we got there and this, this did not help. I seriously considered getting out of the car and giving her a dollar.
Instead, I might have said something like Oh, for the love of g-d, what are you doing already???? a little loudly and also, my window might possibly have been open. And I may have hit the steering wheel. Or not. I will not attempt to justify what I said with an excuse but I will say that if you are going to order a dozen donuts and you feel the need to learn the origins of each different type, then please just park the dang car and walk yourself inside. Please. For the sake of the everybody else in the world, just go inside. Because if you do, then you will not have to glance into your side mirror with a startled look on your face when that crazy lady starts yelling out her car window. And just for the record, the crazy lady was not yelling, she just talking loudly and not even talking to you per se, but more wondering out loud about why it could possibly take 5 long minutes to order 12 donuts.
And now I'm done.
So here's the thing, I'm also sort of done with blogging, at least for now.
It's been a long while since I last posted here, a good five weeks, and lots has been going on in our family, some good, some more worrisome and I feel that I might have put us out there too much by blogging here. My first instinct was to stop blogging altogether but that didn't sit well with me. I blog because it's kind of like my diary and I love to look back and remember things that happened to our family over the years.
I never intended it to become something that (on some days) many people read. It kind of got a little out of hand, but in a good way. It was fun to interact with other people, especially on days when, as a stay-at-home-mom, these were the only adult interactions between the hours of 8am-8pm. So I think, at least for a while - or maybe forever - I am going to follow the advice of someone I respect who visited our community a week or so ago. When we spoke and I told him what I was thinking and feeling, he said "Live Simply. Live inside the four walls of your home, and don't share everything with everyone. Keep your family close. Don't share only the good and don't share only the bad. You know who your close and true friends are, embrace them and keep them close but don't overshare with the world at large." And when he said that, he had no idea that I had a blog. But I did. And maybe I'm reading into this too much, but for now, I'm going to keep blogging for myself - the Crumb Factory will now be password protected and only a select few will have that password.
It's been fun. More fun than I ever really thought it would be or imagined that it could be, but now it's time to close ranks and keep the house goings-on inside the home.
Shalom, and thank you, really,
:)
